Through our website, you will learn about the Russophone world outside the Russian Federation.
On the home page, there is a map with the countries currently available to read about. You are able to switch between countries with the menu button at the top of the page as well as the table of contents below. This website is a work in progress, and more countries and more information about each country will be highlighted over time. We hope you enjoy our work!
By creating this website, we recognize that a large number of Russian speakers live in these countries due to a long history of Russian imperialism and influence. Though Russian is not the only language spoken in these areas, it is an important language for many communities and families and serves as a lingua franca for a large part of the world. The purpose of this website is to recognize this history and draw attention to what makes each of these countries unique.
